History and Camp Philosophy: Over the past 5 years Capital University’s women’s soccer team has firmly established itself as one of the most successful programs in Ohio. In Coach Ogden’s 3rd season as head coach Capital has compiled a 23-4-1 conference record and In 2015 the program made school history by going undefeated in Conference play (9-0) for the first time ever. Capital has made the NCAA National tournament 3 of the prior 5 years making the National Semi Final in 2013. On and off the field Capital Women’s Soccer is committed to excellence, player accolades from the past three seasons include, 31 Academic All-Conference, 22 Athletic All-Conference, 5 Athletic All-Region, 10 athletic All-Ohio, 7 academic All-Ohio, 2 Academic All-Americans, and 1 Athletic All-American. Coach Ogden was also named Conference Coach of the Year and All-Ohio D3 Coach of the year in 2015. The team’s commitment to the classroom is also evident in its accumulative G.P.A of 3.42.
Our College ID Clinic provides an insight into the training environment expected from a student athlete at Capital. Each of the field sessions are designed to be challenging and thoughtful with player centered development and creativity as their benchmark. Our clinics have been developed specifically for the female soccer player and the curriculum is appropriate for players’ looking to play college soccer.
Camp Description: Head coach Matt Ogden will introduce a ‘Welcome to where Champions live” presentation followed by field sessions with his staff. Players will work on individual technical training to enhance comfort and control on the ball, and then progress into more advanced tactical training which may cover:
- Individual and team defending
- Possession and midfield principles
- Finishing with small group attacking.
- Mini tournaments and competitive matches (provides an opportunity for individuals to highlight their abilities in front of Capital’s coaching staff).
- Individual GK sessions will be offered
At the conclusion of the field session we will hold a question and answer session for the players followed by a campus tour with the soccer staff and current players.
Athletes looking to compete in a nationally recognized program will experience collegiate training standards and interact with some of our current Capital Soccer players to learn what it takes to be the best!
*There will be a designated goalkeeping curriculum for this camp.
