Teays Valley HS, 2 Day Team Camp
Over the past 5 years Capital University’s women’s soccer team has firmly established itself as one of the most successful female soccer programs in Ohio. 2013 saw the program reach its first NCAA Final Four game, and in 2015 the program made school history by going undefeated in Conference play (9-0) making its 4th straight NCAA National tournament appearance. 2017 saw the success continue with the team once again making it to the OAC conference championship game. On and off the field Capital Women’s Soccer is committed to excellence, player accolades from the past three seasons include, 31 Academic All-Conference, 22 Athletic All-Conference, 7 Athletic All-Region, 10 athletic and 7 academic All-Ohio, and 2 Academic and 1 Athletic All-American Awards. Coach Ogden was also named Conference Coach of the Year and All-Ohio D3 Coach of the year in 2015.
Our HS team camp provides an insight into the training environment expected from a student athlete in a college program. Each of our field sessions is designed to be challenging and thoughtful with player centered development and creativity as their benchmark. Our sessions have been developed specifically for the female soccer player and the curriculum is appropriate for players preparing for the High School season.
Head coach Matt Ogden will conduct 2 field sessions with his staff on Saturday followed by 2 additional sessions on Sunday. Each day begins with daily ball mastery exercises which challenge players close control and ball manipulation in small spaces then progresses into functional applications relative to the game. Sessions could include:
Defending and passing out of pressure
Possession and midfield principles
Finishing, moving into small group attacking
